junk kouture fashion show

Yesterday, after what feels like years our junk kouture was finally finished!! Yay! We had a fashion show, to show off our final product. We were judged and we had to do a catwalk in the hall. Well I didn't do the catwalk as I was not the model(thank the lord!).. Juliette modelled our dress.. poor her as the dress was not all that great if I'm honest. A lot of the dresses were actually surprisingly really good though. The competition was close, I don't know how the judges made a decision. I still don't know who won even though it was yesterday. Ah well... My favourite dress was probably Sinead and Sorchas dress made out of pots and garden things. It looked really good and professional. That's all really. It was a good day.

james bond!!

On Friday we're going to our second workshop thing for mini-company.. well It's really our third. It's going to be pretty cool because it's on in white water shopping centre so I'm hoping to maybe slip a bit of shopping in there too:). The last ones were on in the odeon cinema in naas, we we'rent actually watching a movie , just for some reason it was held there... I dunno

 The last time we went there we were supposed to get a talk on mini company but the speaker fell sick at the last minute. Hopefully she was okay. The teachers went out to discuss what to do.. they finally came up with a conclusion...... Watch a movie!!!!  We all started  cheering , it was epic. We got to watch SKY FALL 007! For free! I'd already seen it but I really enjoyed it and wanted to see it again. We were all so excited and could'nt believe our luck! Seriously, we were like aw that poor speaker I hope she's alright, then as soon as we heard we could watch a movie we completely forgot about it.( I feel kind of bad if I'm honest : / ) but it was a good day! After the film we we're all still buzzing and the cinema people just started handing out everyone free popcorn, drinks, sweets and these Madagascar cups. It was a very good day.

junk kouture and mini companying!!

  It's the first week back from our midterm break, it's already like it never happened!! We're back to our usual work; junk koutore, mini- company....I havn't actually mentioned these projects much at all have I?..  For junk kouture we've gotton pretty far. We're finished the whole corset which we made from chicken wire , and paper mache. We then stuck little toys onto it to make a design. I think it actually looks quite good : /  .. I don't know what we're going to do next though.
   For mini company I'm in a a group with 6 other girls. We've decided to make an app where we replace the normal lyrics of popular songs with study notes so far from the junior cert. We're hoping the lyrics will get stuck in peoples heads and it'll help them remember  the chapter. The only problem is , we have no clue how to make an app or how to actually make money out of it. We're going to write songs after school today :)   That's all for now really!

FUN WALK!

Our annual school Fun Walk was last Friday the 5th of October. Every year the different years in the school are given a certain colour and we have to dress up as something of that colour and make a dance. This year as usual TY's were yellow. After a good few years it gets pretty difficult to come up with new ideas so it took us a while. In the end we decided to be the yellow pages and we would all be a page in a giant book. I think it's a genius idea if I'm honest!! We danced to call me maybe .. but there was a twist. Halfway through , the song changed to gangnam style! Yes I know ,it's an epic song :) .. It was really  fun and we had a great time. We got to see all the other ty's preform their's as well. I think ours was the best by a mile!.. the judges didn't agree though :( .. They thought it was a bit inappropriate.. They have no sense of fun! Despite the dissappointing result I had a good time. After the walk was over , we went back to the courtyard , where we got cans of coke and danced to music! My costume was thrown away while I was doing the macarena .. I didn't really mind to be honest, It's not like I'm going to wear yellow pages again, ever. I lost my shoe laces though , as they were tying my costume together. That was sad:( ..  ah wachtya gunna do!

Carlingford Adventure Center!! Day 2

So the next day we're woken up at 7:20 ( I have to say it killed me a little inside) , to pack and be down for breakfast at eight. As I have mentioned before, I am not a morning person so I was pretty narky all morning ( sorry to anyone who was near me). We had to walk over to the big field place where they have all their obstacles and stuff with our instructors for that task including Leslie, or as we like to call Lesboy or The Lessinator. (He is a legend.) Our activity that morning was a sort of obstacle hunt. We were put into groups of about ten and were given a map, on the map were a load of different obstacles, we had to complete as many as possible and for each we were given a certain amount of jewels. I think my team was the bomb, we were lead by The Lessinator .  We managed to get twenty five jewels, tying first place with another group. That was a fantastic activity and i really had fun!!

       We then had lunch and went to our second activity which was LASER GUNS!!! As you can probably tell from the capitol letters, I loved laser guns. We had to wear badass army gear and march up to a big forest area with army hide-outs and those things that you always see in movies were people hide behind and shoot from. It looked epic! We were all told how to use the guns and were put into two teams, the blues and  the reds. I was on the reds. There were loads of different games that lasted about fifteen minutes each. It was soo amazing! We all went into soldier mode. It was hilarious! : D

    When laser guns was over we had to go back to the place, get our bags and go home. That was sad, we all wanted to stay longer! Now we are actually trying to organize another trip to Carlingford because we all loved it so much, I really hope we get to go back!

Carlingford adventure center!!! Day One

It's  Friday the 21st of September, and Ty is still great! Even better then before to be honest. This Monday we went to Carlingford Adventure Center. It was the best two days ever! Seriously. We left on the bus from esso garage at 7 in the mornring. That meant I had to get up at 6 and I am not a morning person! : / I have to say it was worth it though. When we got there we were split up into two groups and we headed off to our first activity. For my group that meant kayaking! We had to put on wet suits that were ripped at the bum and already wet, that wasnt nice. Once we got in though it was so fun! We paddled out to sea in a group.I was on a kayack with cliodhna and we weren't the most talented rowers if I'm honest, we were miles behind everyone. Luckily we got a lift on the speed boat to try catch up.. that came with a price.. they toppled us over into the water!!
      We went back to have lunch after the water activities were over and got ready for the next one which was high ropes and zorbing. That was incredible, even though i was now feeling sick I think zorbing was my favorite. We had to get strapped into a massive ball after we rolled it up a hill. They then let go of the ball and sent us rolling down the hill. It was sooo fun!!
    After dinner we went out to the forest to do the night walk. I was wrecked at this point and having to walk up a hill was not my idea of fun. When we got up to the forest we were told to put blindfolds on and hold the  shoulder of the person in front of us and walk. It started to get really good then. We were all blind and walking through a forest , tying to dodge trees, a lot of the time unsuccessfully : ) Not to mention the fact that the instructors and Mr Kennady were throwing leaves and water at us at random times for a laugh!!
     After the night walk we had free time until eleven which was when we had to go to our rooms. We went out to get some Chinese takeaway and we chillaxed in the games room. It was a great day!

ty so far

It's just about the second week of ty now and I have to say so far so good. At first I was uncertain that TY was for me. New people in my class and it's very different from other years, however, around the third  or fourth day things got much better. You seriously make a lot of new friends in TY, people you didn't even know the names of.
 So far there has been a lot of group work, most teachers mix you up so that you're not with your friends. At first I didn't like that but you get to know new people and have fun anyway :) . One of the projects we're doing is junk kouture. It's really good. We have to design a dress made out of recycled materials, we have to  pick a concept on which we want to design our dress and we have to pick a girl in the group to model the dress. We chose to do our dress on childhood, so we're making the dress out of old toys and stuff. It's really fun because you literally do everything yourself, you're the only one who will be disappointed if yo you get nothing done. We've only really started so there's a long way to go! I' ve seen some of the other designs from previous years and they look AMAZING. I hope mine turns out half as good as theirs!
